I dreamed my best friend IRL and her husband came to visit me and my husband, but we lived in a house in my dream that I've never seen IRL - a sprawling, modern very 1960s Hollywood Star home. The first day they were there was very normal, but the second day my friend came out dressed in a 1950ish Hollywood starlet black dress, diamond jewelry, black high heels, black gloves that went up to her elbows, and she had one of those really long cigarette holders with a lit cigarette (she doesn't smoke IRL). She was prancing around the house saying it was her birthday and that we were all going out to a very, very fancy restaurant for her birthday. But it wasn't her birthday. While she was walking around the house acting like a Hollywood star, I was reading newspapers from the stack and I told her that I was reading all these articles about a murder and that I knew how to solve the murder mystery and I didn't want to get dressed up and go to this "birthday" dinner when it wasn't her birthday. I wanted to solve the murder. Her husband asked me to make him some coffee. I said, "Okay. I'll make you some coffee, but if the killer strikes again while I'm making your coffee, blood is on your hands." He said, "Eh, I don't care." So I made his coffee and went back to my newspapers. Pretty soon police officers showed up to my house and asked for my help in solving the murder case. My friend was primping around the police officers telling them about her birthday and that they could go to this birthday dinner with us. I yelled at her "IT'S NOT YOUR BIRTHDAY!" She got mad at me and threw a vase against the door. The crashing of the vase in my dream is what woke me up.

In summary, your dream might be expressing an internal conflict between appearances versus reality, the balance between different roles and responsibilities, as well as a strong need to address underlying issues. It could also hint at the importance of authenticity and solving real-life "puzzles" or problems that are perceived as significant to you. The emotional response at the dream's climax highlights the intensity of these feelings and their impact on you.
